1057 follows the adventures of Mercer, a scientist that engineered androids to live peacefully alongside humanity. However, corporate greed took its hold, as the corporation funding his research seized his creations to weaponize them and sell them to government militaries. This unwise decision fueled by greed eventually lead to the downfall of the corporation, nearly every military across the planet, and inevitably, humanity itself.

Mercer and his fiance, Autumn, try to make the best of the situation and decide to get married in spite of the world's collapse. The wedding ceremony was simple, yet beautiful, and that was enough for them. Despite their best efforts to seal off the building before proceeding with the wedding, androids break in. Mercer holds them back while begging Autumn to run, but she couldn't bring herself to leave his side. The subtle cue of a red dot on Mercer's forehead was enough to drive her to leap in front of him, and just as the android fired the shot that would scar Mercer for years to come, Autumn's lifeless body fell to the ground.

He held onto her for a moment, then soon realized that she had left this world the moment that the android fired its laser. With a burning rage in his chest, he leapt up and cleared the room of androids with his revolver. After giving her a proper burial, he vowed to put an end to this war, once and for all, so that no one would ever have to feel the way that he felt now: lost.
